WoolyTopic is a one-person studio run by Alynn Forrest in Glencoe, Ontario, Canada. Ordering from this site, or using the contact and review forms, means these terms apply. Your privacy is covered separately, in the privacy policy.

Everything is made after you order

Nothing here sits on a shelf. Each piece is felted by hand once your order comes in, which normally takes about two weeks depending on what is already in the queue. You will be sent photographs of your finished piece before it is packed, and an email with tracking when it goes.

Because everything is worked by hand from raw wool, no two pieces are identical. Small variations in shape, shade and finish are the point rather than a defect, and screens render colour differently — a piece will not be a pixel match for its photograph.

If something is going to take materially longer than the estimate — an unusually large order, a run on a particular colour of wool — Alynn will tell you rather than let the date slide quietly.

Ordering and payment

• Prices are in Canadian dollars. WoolyTopic is a small supplier under Canadian tax rules, so no GST or HST is charged and none appears at checkout.
• Payment is taken by Stripe. Your order is accepted when the confirmation email arrives, not when the payment clears.
• Prices and availability can change, and a listing may be wrong. If something is priced or described in error, Alynn may cancel the order and refund it in full rather than hold you to a mistake.
• International orders may attract customs duties, taxes or handling fees on arrival. Those are set by your own country and are yours to pay; they are not part of the price here and cannot be refunded from this end.
• The shipping address is used exactly as you typed it. Check it before paying — a parcel sent to an address with a typo in it is genuinely hard to recover.

Shipping

Shipping is free on every order, to every country the shop ships to. There is no postage line at checkout because there is no postage charge.

Two things about delivery are outside Alynn's control, and both are said here rather than discovered later:

• Canada Post suspends service to some destinations from time to time, usually at short notice and for reasons that have nothing to do with this shop. The list changes, and there is no way to check it from the order page. If your address turns out to be one of them, the order is cancelled and refunded in full.
• Delivery to the United States cannot be guaranteed while tariff and customs treatment keeps changing. Parcels are being delayed, held and occasionally returned. If yours does not get through, you will be told what happened and refunded in full.

In both cases the refund is the whole amount paid, and it does not depend on the returns policy below — nothing was delivered, so nothing is being returned.

Refunds and returns

Putting it right is not a formula. What it means in practice depends on what went wrong, and the conversation starts with the contact form:

• It arrived damaged, or didn't arrive at all. Get in touch with a photograph if there is one to take. She will repair or remake the piece, or send a replacement.
• It isn't what was described, or the wrong option was made. Same thing — she will correct it or remake it.
• You ordered the wrong thing, or changed your mind. Tell her as early as you can. If work has not started, she can usually cancel the order and refund it. Once a piece is under way it has been made for you, and that is the point at which the policy above applies.

Please raise a problem within 30 days of the parcel arriving, while the post can still be asked what happened to it. Later than that is not a closed door — it is simply harder to fix.

A refund, where one is given at all, is Alynn's decision rather than something this policy promises. None of this reduces the rights consumer protection law in your province or country gives you and does not let a seller sign away.

Custom and commissioned work is quoted and agreed by email before anything starts, and is final once begun.

Reviews and messages

Reviews are invited by email after an order has had time to arrive, through a link that works once. That is deliberate: it means every review on this site is from someone who actually bought the piece.

• Reviews are read before they are published, and may be trimmed for length or tidied for typos. The substance of what you said is never changed, and a critical review is not deleted for being critical.
• A review will not be published if it is abusive, defamatory, unlawful, or about something other than the piece.
• Sending a photo with a review gives WoolyTopic permission to show it on this site and in the shop's own social posts. You keep the photograph; you are simply letting it be shown. Please don't send a picture of someone else without asking them first, and don't send anything you didn't take.
• You can ask for your review or your photo to be taken down at any time, and it will be.
• The contact form goes to a real person. Please don't use it for advertising, bulk sending, or anything that would waste her afternoon.

The designs and the photographs

The sculptures, the designs behind them, the photography, and the words on this site are Alynn's own work and remain hers. Buying a piece buys you the piece.

So: keep it, give it, display it, photograph it, post it — all fine, and she would love to see it. Copying a design to make and sell your own version, reproducing it commercially, or reusing her photographs to sell something is not.

A word about safety

These are felted wool sculptures, not toys. Some contain a wire armature and small firmly-attached parts, and wool is a natural fibre that a determined small child or a dog can pull apart. Keep them out of reach of young children and pets, and display them somewhere they will be admired rather than chewed.

Liability

Alynn stands behind everything she makes, and the section above says what happens when something is wrong with it. Beyond that, WoolyTopic is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and any liability is limited to what you paid for the piece in question. Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury, or fraud, and nothing here limits any right the law does not allow to be limited.

The site is offered as it is. It is a small shop's website, and it may occasionally be down.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the laws of Canada that apply there.

Changes

These terms may change; the date at the top says when they last did. The terms that apply to your order are the ones published on the day you placed it.

Anything unclear — ask, through the contact form. A question before you order is much easier than a problem afterwards.
